Indoor mural sized 5x65’, created in December 2024 using 3 shades of latex interior paint. The client is passionate about marine biology and jiu jitsu, and has a particular interest in angler fish because he considers their predator strategy as an analogy for jiu jitsu - luring people in with technique, being one step ahead and taking advantage. I painted a design of an angler fish preying on two fisherman in a boat navigating the rough waters, with the angler monster hiding inside a wave but holding its light above the surface to attract its human prey. The rough waters and intimidating appearance of the angler fish support the intensity of the environment during jiu jitsu training, and the vibrant colors and details serve as evidence of a passionate community. I created the mural from my original brush pen design, which I digitally projected onto the wall in sections. I spread out the angler fish, a prominent wave, and the rowboat to create 3 focal points to break up the long composition.
