Kyer Fox began painting at 4 years old in Seal Beach, California, when her parents would let her loose in the backyard with acrylic paints and canvases as big as she was. Now, far from that backyard but pursuing the same dream, she is studying visual art at the University of Kansas.

The majority of her work focuses on various communities that she has been involved in, including her family, her California and Kansas homes, music and dance scenes, and the sport of jiu jitsu. She believes that as an artist, she can harness shared values, traditions, and experiences in a visual way to shape and strengthen communities.

Kyer has two lighting designer parents, who have had a major influence on her as an artist. She grew up watching them use design to transform spaces, ultimately serving schools, hotels and other communities. In July of 2024, she found herself striving for similar goals when she completed her first mural project. At a veterinary hospital in Long Beach, CA, she painted a wall mural of pets to foster a warm and comforting environment, and to facilitate a more personal connection between the customers and veterinarian team. Now, not even a year later, her fourth mural project is already in the works. Looking forward, she aspires to bring her artistry to as many walls as possible, serving treasured communities by transforming their spaces.
